A few weekends ago I shared a toasty and a long chat with Perth blogging duo Sarah & Jinn from The Silver Lining blog; and am fortunate enough to have been featured on their blog this week, along with some photos Jinn took of me & my workspace. These two are as genuine as they come, and I’m so warmed by their write-up!

Feature – People of Print

Uncategorized

The lovely Cara Bray from London-based ‘People of Print’ did a nice little write-up and feature of my work on their site recently.

Cara wrote,

“Penny Likes Paper is the ever endearing pursuit of Illustrator Penny Slawinski. Steering away from traditional cutesy compositions, she brings a darker edge to her playful doodles. Featuring black and white drawings of characters, her naive style is deeper than it first seems. Lending themselves as stories both individually and as a series, each depicted scene invites the viewer to explore a narrative of darker topics such as loneliness and vulnerability.”

Street Story

animation

_______

paper-cut stopmotion – 91 frames

Below’s a little ‘street story’ I did in Amsterdam based on this mini-animation I made. The two pieces were pasted up along the same street, and the idea was that they could work either as stand-alone pasteups, or as two pieces of a little story that developed as you walked down the street; hidden for anyone who happened to pass by both and notice.
